Jesus said to her, Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again. ~John 4:13
Thirst is real. Spending time in the deserts of this Holy Land drive that point home.
We visit Masada, and take a break to swim in the Dead Sea. The water is so full of salt that we float like rubber ducks and must be careful not to splash our own or each other’s faces.
Anywhere the skin is broken our body says, Ow, ow, ow as the salt enters, even into wounds we didn’t realize we had. People say this stinging salt is healing but it doesn’t feel that way.
The buoyancy is intoxicating. As I bob in the water, I study the whitened ridges rimming this sea. The water here offers no relief to the thirsty.
Can you recall a time of great thirst?
Prayer: Creator God, slake my thirst.
